Pennystock Investing - VENWORTH.com

Pennystock investing can be summed up as being very risky and potentially very profitable. A penny stock is a share of a company that is priced below $5. A lot of these companies are in the early stages of developing their businesses. As a result, the failure rate of these companies can be high. But if the company succeeds and thrives, your original investment can be worth many times over. Penny stock investing is best suited for the knowledgeable investor.

Successful pennystock investing requires having the proper right tools to make the right purchase of penny stocks. This means having sufficient information on the companies whose penny stocks you are planning to purchase. Making money from investing in penny stock requires patience and research.

Size of big gas wells shrinking, report says
Even as the biggest natural gas wells in Western Canada shrink year by year, the prospect of huge finds remains a real and enticing prospect for explorers, according to research by FirstEnergy Capital Corp. The average initial production rate of the 25 best gas wells in Western Canada in 2005 was 10 million cubic feet a day -- about 1,700 barrels in oil terms -- FirstEnergy said in a report yesterday. The figure is down more than 10 per cent from 2004 and almost 25 per cent from an average rate of 13 million cubic feet a day in 2002. "Over all, the quality of top gas wells has declined since 2002 and 2003," analyst Steven Paget of FirstEnergy said in the report. "This shows that finding good gas wells is becoming harder than ever." Still, among the new wells is the giant at Tay River, discovered by Shell Canada Ltd. in 2004 and brought on stream last May. It is about 160 kilometres northwest of Calgary, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and ranks among the best three finds of the past two decades. Powered by new technology, such as seismic tools to peer deep underground, and advanced drilling techniques, companies can hunt for gas that was previously inaccessible or unseen.
Students hear from startup experts
“What's cool is never profitable, unless you're Steve Jobs,” observed Om Malik, senior writer of Business 2.0. Malik was one of several experts who presented to a full audience at Kresge Auditorium on Saturday for the Startup School. The event was hosted by Y Combinator, a seed funding firm based in Mountain View and Cambridge, Mass., and the Business Association of Stanford Engineering Students (BASES). More than 620 Stanford students and next-generation founders attended to learn how to start a company. In October 2005, the Startup School was offered for the first time at Harvard to train students on the best practices, including those for incorporating, applying for patenting, selecting co-founders and obtaining angel and venture capital funding. Because of its association with Silicon Valley entrepreneurship, Stanford was a logical location to host another Startup School.
Bullion stocks get no glitter from gold's jump
The surge in the gold price to a 25-year high couldn't have come at a worse time for gold miners such as Newmont Mining Corp. and Barrick Gold Corp. as a competing rally in oil could spoil their party. Shares of the big producers have barely budged despite record metal prices, defying conventional wisdom that says where the gold price goes, so goes the stock prices. But as the price of gold burst through the $600-per-ounce (329 pound-per-ounce) barrier for the first time in 25 years, oil prices also have skyrocketed and threatened to squeeze any windfall that most miners stand to get from the higher bullion price.
